Did you know that approximately 5000 years ago, Native Americans used the oil to treat skin conditions and to rub into their hands when they were cold? They also found that Sunflower Roots had amazing medicinal properties when applied to the skin. In the Aztec and Inca communities, it was believed that the wild flowers represented the sun, and was worshipped by them.

We intentionally chose Sunflower Oil for its exquisite antimicrobial properties as well as being one of the lightest and finest oils available in the marketplace. Our team found its lightness crucial as a base for our gentle oil cleanser, thus leaving the skin airy and clean. At Odilèle, we use a Cold Press method where the oil is extracted organically from the seeds of the flower without heat or chemical treatments.

Our Sunflower oil is rich in fatty acids such as Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acids, Sesamol, Vitamin A and skin-healing Vitamin E. (Antioxidants like vitamin E neutralize free radicals, keeping them from destroying or damaging healthy cells.)  This means your skin is better protected against damage from the sun, as well as the natural degradation of age that occurs when free radicals are present in the body and is effective for combatting skincare issues like acne, inflammation, general redness and irritation of the skin. Its vitamin E content acts as an emollient that traps moisture inside skin cells. Therefore, using sunflower seed oil helps keep your skin hydrated for a longer period. 

 The anti-inflammatory benefits of sunflower oil for skin is evidently strong as the oil is high in Omega-6 (linoleic) fatty acid along with Vitamin E. The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that linoleic acid helps decrease inflammation in skin (i.e., acne, dermatitis, sunburns). The center also says that Omega-6 enhances the development of new skin cells. Thus, sunflower oil for skin care ensures constantly rejuvenated and even skin surface.
